Trại tị nạn Hawkins Road refugee camp

 Với sự cho phép của chính phủ Singapore, Cao ủy Tị nạn Liên Hiệp Quốc thành lập trại tị nạn Việt Nam tại số 25 Hawkins Rd. vào năm 1978 trong một  doanh trại cũ của quân đội Anh từ năm 1978 đến năm 1996 để tiếp nhận thuyền nhân đã được nước thứ ba chấp nhận cho định cư và đang chờ đợi chuyến bay. Trại chuyển tiếp Hawkins Road đón nhận hơn 30000 người Việt tị nạn trong giai đoạn 1978-1996.  Trại tị nạn chính thức đóng cửa vào tháng 6 năm 1996 sau khi nhóm 99 thuyền nhân cuối cùng được hồi hương về Việt Nam. 

◙ With permission of the Singapore government, the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) established a transit camp at 25 Hawkins Road in 1978, using former British army barracks a transit camp in Singapore between 1975 and 1996 to shelter Vietnamese refugees with confirmed destinations in their transit. Hawkins Road refugee had sheltered more than 30,000 Vietnamese refugees between 1978 and 1996. The camp was officially closed in June 1996 after the last group of 99 boat people were repatriated to Vietnam.
